Well chosen material, starting basic and ramping up nicely. Great games. The approach of having students type in the programs is a good idea! Teaches many things. Code explanations are thorough, systematic, clear. Definitely recommend this book.

The games aspect make it more interesting to keep moving on through the chapters. I like it.

credit to the author for this. I had been attempting to teach myself TI-BASIC, JavaScript, and a part of C+, and I was alway confused by a few elements, such as the WHILE function. he explains in depth how all these functions work, with explinations simular to the "for dummies" books. it is surprisingly easier to work with the programs, since he has a website link where you can just copy the script. it doesnt keep you wondering, and exploring in-depth what the code is doing, but its good to know its there if a code becomes longer than 100-300 lines

This is a very good book which teaches you about Python in very simple language. It is all practical and teaches through writing simple games, which makes it easy to understand.
It is good for beginners, but I think if you already know a little bit about Python then this book will be too basic for you.

If You follow this guy and watch Him work, it is impressive. The keystrokes and thought
patterns that are on display by Al can really inspire You. All His books and YouTube
lessons are just plain awesome. Kudos to Al Sweigart, really a Master of his Trade.

This is a great book to read for anyone interested in programming. The structure of the book allows you to learn critical programming and pythonic concepts by creating fun games that keep you interested and wanting more. Even if your goal is not to create games with Python, after finishing the book you'll realize the core concepts can be applied to anything you may want to do with the language. The text is well-written and easily comprehended by all ages. Highly recommended.

I'm loving this book. I've never programmed before but this actually lets me do something every step of the way. Once I do each project the book's way and read the description of how it works I can go back and rewrite the game or a similar game to be the way I want it to be. It's great. I think this is a great start to programming because it is so much fun.
