Very comprehensive coverage of almost all aspects of traditional Natural Language Processing (NLP), contains tons of code using pure Python as well as using NLTK, pattern, gensim and SpaCy libraries that can be extended or reused for your own projects. As another reviewer has noted, this is an excellent replacement (slightly less deep but much broader coverage) for Bird, et al's
. If I had a complaint, it is that the book tends to go a little heavy on theory, since its stated target audience is NLP practitioners. One other thing is that there is zero coverage of Deep Learning, although that wasn't something I was looking for when reading this book. Overall, I thought that this was an excellent and broad introduction to traditional NLP. It will get you started with reusable code snippets, and will give you (more than) enough theoretical understanding so you can consult more advanced books or papers as needed.

This is a noteworthy book for beginners who wants to learn Natural Language Processing using Python software stack. This book is well written and in a very structured form maintaining the flow. It is definitely worth a read for someone who is overwhelmed by ample resources about NLP on the internet and is wondering for a headstart for the same. This book is not only structured but also has all the NLP concepts well explained accompanied by practical guide.
This book is also helpful for programmers who is willing to get into NLP. This book covers a wide range of topic including text summarization, text clustering, text classification, semantic and sentiment analysis in depth with good amount of practical exposure.
Anyone can be a pro in NLP after reading this book and will have a clear idea to apply right NLP concepts at the right place in real world scenarios!
I highly recommend this book to anyone willing to learn NLP especially to beginners and intermediate programmers!

Great into chapter on linguistics and code that you can download and be up and running immediately. Well written as well. For me, it's a fascinating topic, and properly addressed in this text.

I really liked the book as it is written in an easy way. My Pyhon level was basic-intermediate but after this book I consider myself intermediate as it helped me to gain more knowledge.
I strongly recomand this book

If you are one of those who likes to learn through example then you'll love this book. It has a good amount of real-world examples which will help you to understand the basics of NLP and Text Analytics. The best thing about this book is that it has dedicated chapters on Python which will actually help you to brush up your skills. Lucid explanations have been most helpful to my understanding.

Great book. He breaks all the germane natural processing stuff into manageable pieces. Very pragmatic.

Based on Python 2. Please, note that Python 2 is not the direction to go.
I, for one, would like a good book on NLTP based solely on Python 3. Since I teach Python, I do not want to confuse my students.

What strikes me about this book is its amazing content structure! For someone who is new to playing with text or someone who has to get their hands dirty with unstructured text, this is the best buy! As someone new to log analytics, I picked this book and read the concepts right from the basics! Personally not only was it a great start to read and understand things but good for the curiosity it infused in me towards the work that I was doing! I did recommend it to colleagues at work and it helped them too! The code snippets are beautifully explained and for someone looking for hands-on start to the topic, exploring the git link could really help! Good job with the book!
