The book is easy to understand and gives you enough background/tutorial in becoming Python programmer. The book's main audience are people who do not have any programming experience and gives a good foundation but do not expect to be a PRO at the end of it.

Outstanding book. (And the MIT edX online course is also outstanding, and free.) Lots of materials packed into an informative, easy to understand package. Buy this book and have fun!

This is an excellent, light weight introduction to programming for first year programming students. Keep in mind, this book is not supposed to teach you how to code in Python. This book uses the Python programming language as a tool to teach you basic programming concepts.

Easy to follow and very thorough intro to computation. It compliments the 6.00.1x course very well. Note, however, that this is not a Python how-to book!

Guttag builds in a clear manner, while that other book introduces everything using Turtle.
I think that the visualization is nice, but this book is so good at explaining concepts that you don't need Turtle.

This is a great introduction to Python, and goes beyond the language itself but also includes algorithms. One amazing intellectual journey!
